The Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) at Alfred University empowers students of all majors to collaboratively manage a $1 million+ portfolio with the goal of outperforming the S&P 500.
SMIF encourages any student with an interest in finance to get involved. Members have the opportunity to pitch new stock ideas or recommend selling current holdings based on market analysis. Students who complete FIN 205 and FIN 206 are eligible to take on leadership roles within the fund.
We actively compete in prestigious national and international competitions that challenge our financial analysis and presentation skills. These include the Global Asset Management Education (GAME) Forum, the CFA Research Challenge, and the College Fed Challenge.
